Jada Rusen

Jada Rusen

1. Nicknames:
J, J.J., J.J. the Jet Plane, but "Jada" is fine.

2. Hometown:

I was actually born in Wilmington NC, but  we moved to Tempe, AZ when I was 5 years old and that's where we still live.

3. How long have you been skating?
2-10 years old, but mostly 9-10 years old. I have been around skateboarding since before I can remember, but I really didn't start skating until I was 9.

4. How did you get into skating?
My mom always skated and even worked at a parking in N.C. when I was about 2. My dad skates too, but not as much since he has  back problems. I guess I have always been around skateboarding.

5. Where's your favorite place to skate?
Locally, GoodYear skatepark and the "Chicken Ramp (Wrex and Kim's backyard). I also loved the parks in Fairplay, CO and Houston, TX.

6. Anyone you look up to in the skateboarding world?
My mom and Mimi Knoop

7. Describe your perfect skate day:
This might be a little bit out of this world, but anyway... I would wake-up on the beach, in a tent and go surfing. Then I would go to a wonderful skatepark in the mountains and do every trick I've ever dreamed of.

8. What kind of reactions or responses do/have you received from people when you tell them that you skate?
"Do you mean "ice" skate?", "Are you sure?", "That's cool!"

9. Any advice for fellow female skaters or girls wanting to get into skateoarding:
If anybody tells you, "You can't skate." don't listen! Always practice if you want to get better and always wear a helmet because it protects your head.
